Cierant Obtains Woman Owned Small/
Minority Business Enterprise State Certification

DANBURY, CONN. — On Oct. 25, 2016, Cierant Corporation was certified as a Woman Owned Small/Minority Business Enterprise by the State of Connecticut’s Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Supplier Diversity Program.

Cierant can now officially participate in Connecticut’s Supplier Diversity Program and bid on opportunities afforded by the Supplier Diversity Program. This certification was obtained in correspondence with Cierant’s announcement of the appointment of Lisa Cioban, Chief Operating Officer, as the new President of the company in addition to her role as COO.

Connecticut’s Office of Supplier Diversity recruits and certifies small, women, minority and disabled-owned business to participate in the Supplier Diversity Program. In order to become a certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), a business must be at least 51% owned, controlled and operated by one or more individuals from a minority group. This individual must carry the managerial and technical expertise related to the principal activities of the enterprise in order to direct both the management and policies of the business.

Cierant sought State Supplier Diversity Program certification as a precursor to obtaining their woman-owned business accreditation from the nationwide Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), a process anticipated to be complete by early 2017. Comprised of an over 70% female workforce and a nearly all-female management team for the past 35 years, the two certifications are intended to formerly recognize the integral role women have played and continue to play in the success of the company and Cierant’s corporate culture of strength through diversity.

Additionally, Cierant hopes that through State SBE/MBE certification, they will better enable both current and future clients to increase the number of minority and woman-owned business enterprises (MWBE’s) they source with in order to meet both corporate and compliance requirements while increasing service value and competitiveness in a diverse marketplace.
